Ministry of Tourism of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Known worldwide for its geological potential (copper, diamond, gold, uranium, coltan, oil, etc.), the DRC is also and above all one of the most beautiful reserves of fauna and flora in the world. Five of its protected areas are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Added to this is its population, estimated at roughly 80 million, known for its warm hospitality. This Congolese population includes more than 450 ethnic groups and constitutes a rich, varied and authentic tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and therefore a particularly unique tourist attraction, made up of so many specific artistic expressions. The DRC’s geographic location in the heart of Africa is another major asset in regional tourism. Surrounded by nine neighboring countries, the DRC thus finds itself in the extension of tourist circuits and various sub-regional markets such as SADC, COMESA, ECCAS and CEPGL, of which it also constitutes the most objective point of penetration. It thus potentially represents an estimated market between 80 million and 250 million consumers.
