The Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (IATA: ABJ, ICAO: DIAP) is the main airport in Ivory Coast, located in Abidjan, the largest city in the country. Named after Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the first president of Ivory Coast who served from its independence in 1960 until his death in 1993, the airport plays a critical role in the nation's transportation network. Situated in Port-Bouët, a district near the Atlantic coast, its strategic location makes it a key hub for West African air traffic. Over the years, the airport has undergone several expansions and renovations to accommodate increasing passenger volumes. It has both international and domestic terminals, serving as a major gateway for flights connecting Abidjan to Europe, the Middle East, and other African destinations. Notable airlines operating here include Air France, Brussels Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Ethiopian Airlines, and the national carrier Air Côte d'Ivoire. As the busiest airport in Ivory Coast, it handles millions of passengers annually. Recent improvements in security, border control systems, and passenger services have modernized the airport, enhancing the travel experience. Its economic significance cannot be overstated, as it serves as a primary entry point for international business, tourism, and trade in the country.
