The Umoja People with Disabilities Group (UPDG) is a non-profit organization registered in Malawi under registration number TR/INC No. 6686. Its primary goal is to promote and advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp and surrounding host communities. UPDG’s mission is to improve the quality of life for these individuals by providing aid, support, protection, and engaging in social advocacy activities on their behalf.
The organization focuses on advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, raising awareness about social issues related to disability, and promoting equality and inclusion. UPDG also strives to combat poverty among persons with disabilities and works towards justice through equal opportunities for all.
The organization envisions a world where human rights and the rights of persons with disabilities are respected, ensuring they lead as comfortable lives as possible. UPDG operates in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp and nearby villages in the Dowa District, with plans to establish chapters across all regions of Malawi.
