African Fabric House is based in Uganda, East Africa, and is passionate in its love both of fabric and of Africa, reflected in our carefully curated fabric selections.

African Print Fabric, or Kitenge (or Chitenge, or Ankara, or real wax), is a traditional waxed cotton fabric worn across Africa that comes in a vast range of vibrant colours and designs. Reflecting both the cultures and aesthetics of Africa, truly you can find an African Print Fabric to suit any project.

We source all our fabrics from the textile markets here in Kampala, and we are re-stocking all the time – so come by regularly to see our new fabric supplies. Though Kitenge is our special passion, we also stock other wonderful fabrics inspired by Africa too.

All our fabric is 100% cotton, highly durable, 44 inches wide and priced per yard. We check all the fabric we buy to make sure it meets our quality standards – although remember that Kitenge prints are characterized by their “perfect imperfections”; they are not uniform and reflect the chaotic charm of the countries where the designs were originally conceived.
