The Ministry of Public Works was established with the primary goal of facilitating the realization of Lesotho’s policies, particularly in the context of government buildings and the construction industry. These sectors play a vital role in contributing to the achievement of national policies. The Ministry is dedicated to developing and providing suitable infrastructure and services to support the following key areas:
Human Resources Development:

To effectively carry out its mandate, the Ministry is organized into two departments and one agency:
Administration Department:
Responsible for coordinating the Ministry’s activities.
Comprising Administration, Finance, Legal, Procurement, Human Resources, Planning Unit, Examinations, Information, and Internal Audit sections.
Department of Building Design Services:
With a section dedicated to Buildings Maintenance.
Tasked with providing high-quality government office and residential housing and ensuring proper maintenance of the government’s building stock and furniture.
The Department of Building Design Services aims to achieve its objectives by:
Establishing and maintaining an appropriate institutional and legal framework for monitoring and regulating the building construction industry.
Setting standards and guidelines to ensure high-quality services in the construction and maintenance of government building infrastructure.
Through these efforts, the Ministry of Public Works actively contributes to the development of Lesotho by providing essential infrastructure and services to support education, social services, healthcare, and key economic sectors.
