Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development - Lilongwe - Malawi

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development (MOAIWD) is a key entity in Malawi’s government, with agriculture being central to the country’s economy. The Ministry consists of seven technical departments: Agriculture Extension Services, Crops Development, Animal Health and Industry, Agriculture Research, Agriculture Planning Services, Land Resource and Conservation, and Fisheries. It also oversees Irrigation and Water Development, which manages the water sector. The Ministry aims to enhance agricultural productivity, sustainable land resource management, and food security, ultimately boosting incomes and socio-economic growth. Its primary objective is to improve food security by creating an environment for stakeholder participation and developing effective policies.
