Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA) - Windhoek - Namibia

The Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA), under the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and SME Development (MITSMED), was established to improve service delivery and manage Business and Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) registration. Operational since 16 January 2017 as a State-Owned Enterprise under the BIPA Act (No. 8 of 2016), BIPA was deregistered as an Association Not for Gain on 25 August 2017. BIPA serves as the central point for registering, administering, and protecting businesses and IPRs, maintaining legal records, and providing advisory services. Its strategic objectives focus on policy formulation, institutional arrangements, and creating a competitive business environment to support entrepreneurship and investment in Namibia.
