Niger Telecoms - Niamey - Niger

Niger Telecoms is a public telecommunications company in Niger, created on September 28, 2016, through the merger of two state-owned telecommunications companies: SONITEL (providing voice and internet services, both fixed and mobile) and SAHELCOM (providing voice and internet services through mobile telephony). With the enactment of laws n°2012-31 and n°2012-32 on June 5, 2012, the State of Niger became the sole shareholder of SONITEL S.A. and SAHELCOM S.A. Consequently, through the merger of the two companies, the State of Niger became the sole shareholder of Niger Telecoms. Faced with the continuously deficit results of the two entities, the Nigerien government announced their merger in 2015, which materialized on September 28, 2016. Thus, Niger Telecoms is a state-owned joint-stock company with a board of directors and a capital of twenty-three billion four hundred million (23,400,000,000) CFA francs.
