The Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria (CFAN) is the umbrella organization representing smallholder cocoa farmers across all cocoa-producing regions in Nigeria. Established on 25 November 1999 at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, CFAN emerged in response to the disarray and lack of coordination among existing cocoa cooperatives and associations. Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2002, the association operates under a constitution and is governed by an elected executive leadership including a President, Deputy President, regional Vice Presidents, and national officers.
CFAN’s core mission is to protect the socio-economic interests of its members, revive aging cocoa farms with modern agro-technologies, enhance cocoa quality, and reduce post-harvest losses. The association also sources and distributes high-quality agricultural inputs, facilitates affordable loans and grants, fosters peer support, and promotes investments in cocoa-processing industries.
