Malolotja National Park spans over 18,000 hectares (44,000 acres) of pristine mountain wilderness in northwestern Eswatini, along the border with South Africa. This rugged landscape is home to Ngwenya Mountain, the country’s second-highest peak at 1,829 metres, and the breathtaking Malolotja Falls, which plunge 89 metres (292 feet)—the tallest waterfall in Eswatini.
The park boasts a rich diversity of habitats, ranging from open grasslands and dense riverine thickets to bushveld and rare patches of Afromontane forest, making it a haven for biodiversity.
Malolotja borders South Africa’s Songimvelo Game Reserve, and together they form the Songimvelo-Malolotja Transboundary Protected Area, also known as a Peace Park. This collaborative conservation effort is part of the larger Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area, which promotes ecological connectivity across borders and sustainable preservation of the region’s natural heritage.
