The Uganda Hotel Owners’ Association (UHOA) is a trade and lobbying organisation that includes almost all of the nation’s hotels, lodges and camps among its members.
UHOA sets high standards for its members and those includes within this publication can all be recommended by our Association, from Kampala’s finest five- star property to a more modest guesthouse far away from the capital.
Expansion:
Uganda has witnessed a vast expansion of its hotel sector and this growth continues- at a higher rate in Kampala than in the recent past, but just as energetically outside the city as capacity grows to meet demand.
Lonely Planet has rated Uganda the world’s top ”must see” destination for 2012. I am sure this assessment is correct and we, as an industry association, are working hard to live up to Lonely Planet’s star billing.2020-08-08
It is easy to see why Uganda is so highly thought of. We have some of the Africa’s best and most varied wildlife parks and certain strengths in terms of our attractions and activities- especially our range of primates, our incredible bird species and the continued popularity of adrenalin sports centered on the town of Jinja.
We still need to do more in regard to promoting Uganda and to giving visitors more reasons than ever to come and enjoy our country, the Pearl of Africa; but rest assured that UHOA, along with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), will be at the forefront of this drive.

Our products / services

- All UHOA members benefit from the tax exemption on hotel operational materials that can only be accessed through our office.
-All members get a discount on accommodation in all our member hotels and this is being pushed to include East Africa.
-UHOA was also represented by Hajji Bulaimu Kibirige and Mr. Ismail Sekandi on the Presidential Investors Round Table (PIRT) in 2008.
-UHOA has been able to negotiate with Trade Unions on behalf of all our members.
-Members are also able to keep up to date with news from the industry from the UHOA secretariat through email.
-All our members also have the opportunity for joint promotion through our website and this is freely provided.
-UHOA has been lobbying against the newly introduced Local Service Tax and the Hotel Tax Hoteliers and exchange ideas something that would not be possible without UHOA.
-Members are also able to access joint promotion from the Secretariat through the annual UHOA magazine.
-UHOA has got representation on various NGO’s and government committees on Tourism for our members.
-The Secretariat supports recruitment of all categories of staff for the hotel industry.
-UHOA organizes training programs and refresher courses for all its members’ staff.
-UHOA has established a desk at Entebbe International Airport to support all members.
