Wawoto Kacel Cooperative Society - Gulu - Uganda

Wawoto Kacel Cooperative Society Ltd, which means “Walking Together” in the local language, is a social arts and crafts cooperative founded in 1997 in Gulu, Northern Uganda. It was established by a group of HIV-positive women with support from the Ugandan NGO Comboni Samaritans of Gulu and the Italian organization Good Samaritan Onlus. Today, the cooperative includes 150 members and operates through six main sections: embroidery, tailoring, tie and dye, weaving, beadwork, and greeting cards. Their handmade products are sold both locally and internationally, promoting empowerment, solidarity, and sustainable livelihoods for women in the region.
