Ankole Coffee Producers Co-operative Union Limited – ACPCU LTD is a Fair Trade Certified and Organic certified by CERES GmbH coffee processing and exporter organization based in Ishaka, Bushenyi Municipality located along the Mbarara Kasese high way in Uganda, East Africa purely owned by farmers and registered under the registrar of co-operatives.

ACPCU LTD mainly consists of 17 co-operatives formed by different societies in the Greater Ankole i.e. Bushenyi, Mbarara, Ntungamo, Sheema, Ibanda and Ribirizi. Coffee processes at the ACPCU LTD include buying hulled coffee from the farmers through their various co-operatives, grading this coffee, sorting it, packaging and finally exporting it.

Ankole Coffee Producers Cooperative Union ACPCU LTD has grown from a humble beginning of just 10 co-operative societies into 17 in a period of just eight years. ACPCU LTD is currently a confident, farmer-owned export coffee co-operative union with over 6,000 members from distinct, multi-ethic communities stretching across the mountains of south-western Uganda; from the fertile slopes of Bushenyi to the dramatic heights and sparkling crater of Bunyaruguru speaking different languages but share a common voice: working together as progressive, forward-thinking farmers to market our coffee and improve our livelihoods.

Our Projects

ACPCU LTD is directly involved with the improvement of quality of life for its members who are the farmers. The most notable previous projects have been; Coffee nursery project, Washed Arabica project, Construction of warehouses and offices for the co-operative societies. Notable among the successful projects include but not limited to; construction of ponds and bridges, construction of schools for students in Nyakahita and Katenga in Mitooma district. ACPCU through the Fair Trade Premium fund has also equally shared/distributed these resources amongst the co-operatives with community outreach projects as the major area of focus.
