Zambeef Products Plc is one of the largest integrated food companies in Zambia and the region. It produces, processes, distributes, and retails beef, chicken, pork, milk, dairy products, eggs, stockfeed, and flour. The company cultivates approximately 16,600 hectares (8,120 hectares under irrigation and 8,480 hectares of rain-fed crops), growing maize, soybeans, and wheat, with an annual production of 120,000 tons of grain. It is expanding into Nigeria and Ghana. Each year, it slaughters around 58,000 cattle, 7.9 million chickens, and 53,000 pigs; processes 12.3 million liters of milk; produces 130,000 tons of stockfeed, 40 million eggs, 89,000 shoes, and 99,000 hides. It has 150 retail outlets in Zambia and West Africa, along with four wholesale depots. It employs over 6,000 people and paid K231 million in salaries last year. Zambeef generated US$38 million and contributed K128 million in taxes.
