Zimbabwe Farmers Union (ZFU) - Harare - Zimbabwe

The Zimbabwe Farmers’ Union (ZFU) is the largest farmers’ interest organization in Zimbabwe, representing over a million farming households. It encompasses members from various sub-sectors, including communal, resettlement, small-scale commercial, peri-urban plot holders, emergent, and large-scale commercial farmers. Membership is voluntary, allowing individuals to join local ZFU associations or clubs based on their farming category.
Established on August 19, 1991, ZFU emerged from the merger of the Zimbabwe National Farmers Union (ZNFU) and the National Farmers Association of Zimbabwe (NFAZ). ZNFU’s origins trace back to the mid-1930s as the Bantu Farmers Union, later renamed the African Farmers Union in 1941, and then Zimbabwe National Farmers Union in 1980. NFAZ was formed in 1981, evolving from the Master Farmers Association active in the then Victoria province (now Masvingo) since the 1960s.
