Rwathia Agrofarm is a social enterprise in Kenya focused on horticulture, farming, processing, and export of fresh/frozen avocados, mangoes, and herbs. Named after Rwathia village in Murang’a, Kenya’s top avocado-producing region, the company also supports farmers with inputs and technical advice. Avocados, grown mainly from March to September, are booming in Kenya due to global demand and health benefits. However, small farmers lack knowledge in climate-smart practices, affecting sustainability. Rwathia Agrofarm works to build farmer capacity, improve resilience to climate change, and promote eco-friendly farming. The company is organizing 3,000 small-scale growers in Laikipia County and has a 4-acre model farm in Nyahururu. It seeks equity investors or patient capital to develop a 250-acre organic avocado orchard and IQF processing unit in Kenya and Tanzania.
