The Ministry of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change aims to achieve a cleaner, greener, and safer Mauritius by protecting environmental assets and promoting sustainable development. It focuses on managing solid and hazardous waste, strengthening disaster resilience, and preserving beaches. The Ministry develops legal and policy frameworks on climate change, waste, disaster risk, and coastal management to address emerging challenges. It promotes climate change adaptation and mitigation, integrated coastal zone management, and effective waste policies. It also ensures disaster preparedness and response to protect citizens and support sustainable initiatives across sectors.
