Who we are / Info
Naankuse Foundation is a Namibian non-profit conservation organisation dedicated to protecting wildlife, preserving natural habitats, and supporting local communities through sustainable and innovative initiatives. Founded in the mid-2000s, Naankuse operates as a holistic model where wildlife conservation, humanitarian work, research, and responsible ecotourism are deeply interconnected.
The foundation is best known for its wildlife sanctuary and rescue operations, providing care, rehabilitation, and, where possible, release of injured, orphaned, or displaced animals. In parallel, Naankuse runs community-focused humanitarian programmes that address education, healthcare, and social development, recognising that conservation success depends on empowered local communities.
Naankuse also conducts scientific research and conservation monitoring to inform best practices and long-term environmental protection strategies. Its ecotourism initiatives, including lodges, conservation experiences, and volunteer programmes, generate sustainable funding while offering visitors meaningful, educational encounters with Namibia’s wildlife and landscapes.
Through international partnerships, volunteer engagement, and responsible tourism, Naankuse Foundation creates a balanced approach where conservation, people, and nature coexist. Its work positions the organisation as a leading example of integrated conservation and community development in Southern Africa.
