Tiwai Island Wildlife Sanctuary is a community-managed ecotourism destination located in southeastern Sierra Leone. Set within the Upper Guinea rainforest on the Moa River, it is one of West Africa’s most important biodiversity hotspots. The island hosts exceptional wildlife, including pygmy hippos, chimpanzees, and 11 primate species, making it a unique destination for nature, research, and sustainable tourism.
