Who we are / Info
Bugoma Forest is a protected tropical rainforest located in western Uganda, southwest of Hoima and northeast of Kyenjojo, and east of Lake Albert within Hoima District. First gazetted in the 1930s, the forest has been managed by the National Forestry Authority since 2003 and represents one of the region’s most significant remaining natural woodlands.
Covering an area estimated between 41,142 and 65,000 hectares, Bugoma Forest plays an important role in biodiversity conservation and regional ecology. Its extensive forest cover supports a wide range of plant and animal species, contributing to environmental stability and the preservation of western Uganda’s forest ecosystems.
