Who we are / Info
The Mali Tourism Office, known as Mali Tourisme, is the entity responsible for promoting and developing tourism in the country. Its functions include national and international tourism promotion, infrastructure development, the conservation of cultural and historical heritage, tourist assistance, and the promotion of sustainable tourism. Mali’s main tourist attractions include Timbuktu, famous for its ancient mosques and historical manuscripts; Djenné, home to the Great Mosque of Djenné, the largest mud structure in the world; the Bandiagara Escarpment, a World Heritage site known for its stunning landscape and Dogon culture; the Boucle du Baoulé National Park, with its rich biodiversity and ecotourism opportunities; and the Festival in the Desert, a musical event that attracts artists and visitors from around the world. Despite these attractions, Mali faces significant challenges in its tourism industry, such as political instability and security issues in some regions, the need to improve tourist infrastructure, and the intensification of promotional efforts to compete with other African destinations. Mali Tourisme is actively working to overcome these obstacles and develop the country’s tourism potential, leveraging its rich history, culture, and nature.
